Remember that commercial with the beautiful women that went, “Maybe she’s born with it. Maybe it’s Maybelline?”
Well, it’s easy to look at people who are in shape or have the figure you wish you had and think, “She’s lucky because she was born with it.”
While it may be true for a select few (I estimate 10% or less), it’s likely not true for the vast majority of people.
In fact, it’s much more likely she had to work for the body she has, especially as she got older and added more roles and responsibilities to her life.
How We Use Others’ Circumstances Against Ourselves
Even when we accept the likelihood that she has to work for her figure and to maintain her weight, as busy physicians we might start to believe that her schedule allows her to go to the gym, that she has a private chef, or that there is something else that makes it easier for her.
At the end of the day, we use her circumstances against ourselves as a justification as to why we can’t have it too.
But the thing is, it’s never about the circumstances. It’s always about our thoughts.
If you look hard enough I bet you’ll find someone with your exact circumstances achieving the goal you also desire.
What is it that separates the two of you?
It all comes down to our thoughts, beliefs and mindset.
The Weight Loss Mindset Shift That Changes Everything
Because the BIG TRUTH BOMB is that if you argue for your limitations, you get to keep them.
I believe there are enough people out there arguing for my limitations as it is (as a woman of color, born to immigrants, in a profession that has been traditionally dominated by males) that I simply decided I don’t need to argue for my limitations too.
Instead I choose to direct my energy towards believing in the possibility of having everything I have ever wanted including the weight and physique I’ve always desired no matter my age, my profession, my genetics or how many kids I’ve had.
