Stress eating is a learned behavior and is one of four bad habits I picked up when I became an emergency physician that made it hard for me to lose weight and keep it off. 

Whenever the ER would get busy, pizza and doughnuts would magically appear. 

It was so easy to just grab a slice of something to help me feel better in the moment.

Most everyone else around me was doing it too so it was socially acceptable too. 

But unfortunately that led me to carry extra weight to the point of even my scrub pants no longer fitting and huffing and puffing going up the stairs.

When I wanted to lose the weight, I did what I thought would work. 

I tried...

  • Out-exercising a bad diet (it worked before I had kids!)
  • Counting calories (I gamed the system)
  • Meal delivery service (tasted awful and was boring)
  • Shakes, Supplements and  Detoxes (temporary fix)
  • Portion control (I hate measuring foods)

And while those things helped temporarily, it wasn’t until I overcame stress eating (and other subtle forms of emotional eating I wasn’t even aware of) that I was able to achieve lasting weight loss.
